1-Pager – Booking COVID-19 Vaccine Appointments
More than 275,000 COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered so far in British Columbia and the vaccines are proving to be highly effective in reducing outbreaks in settings such as long-term care.
We are now inPhase 2 of BC’s Immunization Plan and an online registration tool is being developed to support Phase 3.
Seniors 80+ years old and Indigenous seniors 65+ years old, will be able to schedule their vaccine appointments in March. The regional call centres will open up to seniors by age, according to the schedule outlined above.
As a result of changes in dose scheduling, everyone in the province who wants to be immunized will be able to receive their first dose of the vaccine by July. BC will also be receiving its first batch of AstraZeneca vaccines next week. This will allow us to look at potentially vaccinating additional priority populations and front-line essential workers.
This is no doubt exciting news for everyone in our province – every immunization brings us closer to the end of a pandemic that has impacted our lives in so many ways. In the meantime, we need to ensure we are continuing our efforts to keep each other safe until we reach the later phases of our Immunization Plan and our communities are better protected.
